Colley Whisson
Born in Brisbane Australia in 1966, I am proud to carry on the tradition of art in the Whisson family into its third generation. My artistic journey began at the age of 20, developing into a strong desire to paint light and its effect on my chosen subject. When painting I am sculpting the image out of carefully placed shadows. Even though I am aiming for a realist image I'm always searching for a subtle lyrical abstracted subtext. I am mesmerized by the magic and challenge that awaits me every time I return to my easel. Travelling to many wonderful locations around the world to paint and teach has allowed me to explore new concepts and possibilities. In my second book and demonstration DVD's "Impressionist Painting Made Easy", published in May 2009, I aim to share this joy of painting with like-minded artists world-wide. Throughout my career I have been blessed to be able to share this wonderful artistic journey with my wife and my two little masterpieces, Alex and Travis. I am grateful for the ongoing support and association with the International Artist and Australian Artist publications, exclusive publishers of my books and DVD's, and their assistance with my growing international following. I would also like to acknowledge the support from Chroma Australia Pty Ltd, galleries and the numerous art groups, societies & schools both in Australia and internationally. The journey is ongoing and my desire is to push myself to achieve the highest level possible.
